Resampling

This workflow encourages exploration of what your instruments and effects are capable of.

Tip

Set the BPM to what you are usually using for your tracks, it will make your life much easier when you want to use your samples.

Steps

  1. Pick an instrument or effect you want to explore more deeply
    • In this example I'll pick the Surge XT synth
  2. Program in some MIDI Notes

  3. Create a new Audio Track and set its "Audio From" to the lane where our Instrument and effects are in.

  4. Arm the recording of the Audio track and begin exploring your sound.

  5. Once you've "jammed" enough and found some "goose bump" moments, you can stop the recording, copy it into a new lane and stretch out it out to find the moments you like

    • You can Freeze and Flatten a track to "commit" your changes.
  6. This is an iterative process, so you're now free to repeat steps 5-6 by adding more effects and recording it into a new lane.

  7. Once you are satisfied, you can Freeze & Flatten the sample and copy the .wav file to your sample collection
